FOOTBALL UPDATE......BROKEN HAND

UPDATE October 29th, David is going in for surgery today at 11:00am, the Doc is putting in a plate and pins because it won't stay in place.

Ok, so this is our latest and last update with football. Last night they played their last game against our across town rivals Canyon View. David tackled someone and somewhere in the middle of all of it someones helmet got him in the hand. The result a broken hand , I hope you can see it in the x-ray it's on the top of his hand, there is a bone that is sticking up and not connected to anything. He broke it early in the 2nd quarter they taped it up and he continued to play for most of the game coming out when it got hit. They also wouldn't let him carry the ball (he usually plays both offense and defense) so he didn't get to play as much as he would have liked to. On a positive note we beat Canyon View 26- 13, and he did have one interception and three sacs with a broken hand and we heard all about it at the insta-care. After we got him home and he had taken his pain medication he would start falling asleep, then he would pop his head up and say, "And the best part is I had 3 sacs and 1 interception with a broken hand." After hearing that over and over I finally said you need to stop saying that "you're asleep" and than he relaxed and quit talking.

Oh no!! Jonathan can definitely relate to sports injuries...I don't know how moms do it!! I don't know if I can let my kids play football, although Jonathan would never allow them not to.:)

Jonathan broke his finger at a Foot-ball game his Junior year. We can sympathize with David and are proud of him for continuing to play. David...just make sure that all of the team signs your cast :)
